Professional TV and Film Acting - Adults

The TV & Film Acting Program helps prepare the actor by learning techniques and methods to become more versatile in auditioning skills, choosing monologue material, cold readings, and becoming qualified for speaking roles in film. Through learning to "be" ourselves, this class will give the actor the tools to become more comfortable and confident in the "art of the craft" of acting for film.

Throughout the course, actors will select material that is appropriate for them and prepare a two or three person scene that will be filmed in class. A copy of the finished work will be made available to the student. The course will also teach the actor interview and auditioning skills.

This program includes:
  • One 2 hour class per week

  • Year-round experience and marketing to local employers for potential employment

GOLD LEVEL TV & FILM ACTING CLASS SCHEDULING

The Gold Level TV & Film acting classes are 2 hours per week for 20 weeks for a total of 40 instructional hours. Students are represented by Julie Nation Management to agents and employers, and year-round career development services to help secure auditions and potential jobs.

In-Depth Course Description


Relaxation/Sensory/Awareness/Personal Inventory
Relaxation, sensory/awareness, and personal inventory techniques and tools will be discussed and practiced. Tips on how to be aware and how to relax when needed will be given.

Posture and Visual Poise
Posture and body language is taught for each student to apply to their personal life as well as professional situations. In addition to creating healthy posture habits, effective body language communication is taught for job interviews, auditions, and stage presentations.

Script Rehearsal and Filming Procedures
Real scripts will be practiced on camera for critiquing. Filming procedures will be taught and practiced.

Improvisation
The keys to improvisation will be discussed. Improvisation is the art of thinking on your toes. This is a wonderful skill to have the will be utilized in the acting world.

Auditioning, Cold Reading and Interview Skills
Mock-auditions will be held along with giving the students tips for an audition and interview. Cold readings are crucial part of acting and the student will learn the techniques needed to feel confident about their cold reading skills.

On-Camera Acting Skills
On-camera work will be done and critiqued as a learning tool. The skills needed for on-camera work will be given to the student.

Voice-Over Development
The tools of good speech are studied; breathing techniques, pronunciation, inflection, vocabulary choices, and emotion projection are all included. These will all be mastered in order to help develop voice-over skills. Use of Props/Visual Presentation
Props are often used in acting and an understanding of the proper way to use them will be discussed and practiced. Having the knowledge of using props is a great skill to have.

Wardrobe/Make-Up/Hair Workshop
The proper make-up, hair and clothing choices will be discussed for the different types of auditions and interviews. How you present your self can be an important factor in auditioning.

Monologue & Script Development: Sitcoms, Movie Role, and Soap Operas
Having a memorized monologue in actors tool-box is necessary. The students will be assisted in developing and choosing a script or monologue. Different types of scripts and monologues, such as sitcoms, soap operas, and various movie roles will be reviewed.

Resume Development
A sample resume will be given to the student. The student is then given the chance to go home and develop their resume to be reviewed in class.

Working with Agents and Casting Directors
The opportunity for the student to work with and audition for agents and casting directors will be given throughout the period of classes.
